Sea Eagle in Gig Harbor with the Autumn Leaves in the Background

Sea Eagle in Gig Harbor with the Autumn Leaves in the Background

The Autumn Leaves and colors are beautiful and on a rare, sunny November Weekend, Sea Eagle slipped away from Tacoma and headed over to Gig Harbor to meet up with friends. The reflections of the trees off the mirror-like water was stunning and a group of Dahl’s Porpoises danced around the rippling wake of the boat, delighting the crews of Sea Eagle, Bobolink and Sampan.

Getting into Gig Harbor proved to be a bit of a challenge as there were 20+ sailboats queued up and sailing out the shallow entrance. The billowing sails looked amazing, but we had to wait for the lot of them to leave before entering the harbor and putzing over to the Public Dock. Space was a bit tight and a minus two foot tide was predicted at midnight, but everyone found room near the end of the dock with plenty of water below the keel.

We took Jeff and Ela’s dogs for a walk and both made a beeline for the two pet stores near the waterfront. I’m guessing the dogs like their doggy cookies.

The crew from Hobbes joined us for happy hour and we barbequed a marinated tri-tip for dinner that had everyone’s stomach on the dock growling in anticipation. I can’t think of a better way to enjoy a crisp fall day.

Heading back to Tacoma as the sun set was magnificent! It’s been a long time since I docked Sea Eagle at night, but proved to be easy. Life is good!
